MLB news: Trout to miss 6-8 weeks with thumb injury

The Los Angeles Angels have placed CF Mike Trout on the 10 day DL with a UCL tear in his left thumb. He's expected to miss 6-8 weeks.

Trout, 25, has a .337 average, 16 homers (second in MLB to Aaron Judge), 36 RBIs and 10 steals in 163 ABs. He leads the league in OBP (.461), slugging (.742) and of course OPS (1.203). He's a five time all-star and two time MVP.

He has a .308 batting average, 184 home runs, 533 RBIs and 153 steals in 3160 career ABs, all for the Angles.

To replace Trout (on the roster, you can't replace his skill), the Angels selected the contract of OF Eric Young Jr, and transferred LHP Tyler Skaggs to the 60 day DL.

Young, 32, is one for four with two steals for the Angels this season. He has a career .246 batting average with eight homers, 88 RBIs and 147 steals in 1510 ABs for the Angels, New York Yankees, New York Mets, Atlanta Braves and Colorado Rockies.
