MLB news: Nats place Glover on DL

The Washington Nationals have placed RHP and closer Koda Glover on the 10-day DL with back stiffness.

Glover, 24, has a 5.12 ERA with 17 strikeouts in 19.1 strikeouts this year, with eight saves. He has a career 5.08 ERA with 33 strikeouts in 39 innings, with those eight saves. He's only played for the Nationals in his MLB career.

To replace Glover, the Nats activated RHP Joe Blanton from the 10-day DL.

Blanton, 36, has allowed 13 ER in 12.1 innings with 12 strikeouts this year. He has a career 4.38 ERA with 1257 strikeouts in 1735.2 innings for the Nationals, Philadelphia Phillies, Oakland Athletics, Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Angels, Kansas City Royals and Pittsburgh Pirates.

RHP Matt Albers will be the closer until Glover returns.
